The "extrait de musique" collection by Filippo Sorcinelli is a deep exploration of the many variations of incense. Each fragrance bears the name of an organ register, and the bottle cap faithfully replicates a stop knob from the Grand Organ of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris.
Violon Basse 16 is named after an organ register traditionally made of wood or metal, most often located in the pedal section of the organ. It takes its name from the orchestral instrument of the same name — the largest member of the viol family. At first, the register produces a rasping tone, reminiscent of a string being wound or coiled. Over time, it gives way to a full-bodied, rich, and imitative sound, evoking the deep resonance and expressive depth of bowed strings.
