The fragrance is inspired by the wooden drawers in the sacristy of the Milan Cathedral.
It bears the name "Aquilonare", from the Late Latin aquilonaris, meaning "northern". This ancient sacristy — built in 1386 — is the cathedral's original core, rising in the heart of the city, tightly surrounded by other buildings. It is the very place constructed after the laying of the cathedral's foundation stone.
Beyond its treasured marble, sculptures, and frescoes, the sacristy is filled with historic furnishings and drawers, still used today by priests as they vest before sacred rites.
Aquilonare captures the cool solemnity of this sacred northern space — a blend of timeworn stone, old wood, silent ritual, and the breath of centuries.
